Hey Beach Commuters! I've got a hot take... Money is the BIGGEST hurdle to becoming a digital nomad... Even if the hurdle doesn't SEEM like it's about money, it usually is. Getting a fully-remote job is a means to earn money to pay for travel. Finding good flights...saving money. Finding a good Airbnb...saving money If we didn't have concerns about money, we would all just quit our jobs and travel for a living! Can I get an "amen" from the back seats, please? But... Being a digital nomad is nowhere near as expensive as you think! Take a look at my average monthly cost breakdown over the last year of travel: And I lived COMFORTABLY... in some incredible locations. If you were traveling full-time, you could be a digital nomad for less than $30k annual salary. Doesn't quite make sense, does it? But when you break down the lifestyle, it actually DOES make sense. The biggest misunderstanding people have is that you're not traveling like it's your vacation. You're not staying in high-priced touristy locations. You're not flying during the worst times of the week. You're not eating out three times a day. You're not staying in hotels. You're living a responsible, sustainable lifestyle. Just like you would at home. You'll be surprised how incredibly affordable this lifestyle is. π Listen in on Apple Podcastsβ π Listen in on Spotifyβ But in order to start traveling as a digital nomad, you really need a job at a company that lets you work from wherever you want. And we found that the best way that we can help you do that is by giving you access to a database of fully remote companies that let you work from anywhere. It's called the Anywhere Atlas. And we are launching it today for early access to all of our members on the waitlist! βHere's a sneak preview of what it can do. The best way to get a new job is by establishing weak ties with people at a company you want to work for. You chase COMPANIES, not LISTINGS. You want to find a company that you want to work for, whether they are hiring or not, and follow them. Comment on their posts on LinkedIn. Make connections with employees at the company. Send them messages asking about the what it's like to work there. Get your resume ready for that specific company. Then when the right position pops up, STRIKE! This database puts all these awesome companies right in front of you, so you don't have to weed through the tens of thousands companies that won't let you travel while you work. Or companies that have a bad company culture. Or don't offer perks. Or have low employee reviews. The Anywhere Atlas ONLY has companies that are great to work for, and let you work anywhere you want. And the Anywhere Atlas will become available to everyone next week! Stay tuned for the official full launch next week and email us with any questions in the meantime! [Written by Jeff] The issue I have with searching for digital nomad-related questions online (like "how to make friends as a digital nomad") is the absolute dumpster fire of "tips and tricks" you find. I'm talking about articles written on huge websites (Forbes, USA Today) by people who aren't digital nomads. And oftentimes these articles are just regurgitating eight other lists published on the topic. Zero digital nomads, lots of recommendations. That's a knowledge problem. Here's an example...
